About badlist.co.uk

This site was inspired by one ethically minded consumer who got annoyed with himself for mistakenly purchasing items containing Palm Oil; and then the frustration at trying to explain (with proof) why it is 'bad'.

We hope that the information contained within can be used and built upon to help you make ethical (and informed) purchases, based on whatever your ethics allow for.

Key design features on badlist.co.uk include:

  • Community based knowledge - you add, edit and update the information on this site
  • Published research is linked to each product, allowing you to make informed decisions about the information disseminated here.
  • Positive promotion of "good" products through our goodlist.co.uk - if you want a product known to contain bad things, look here to find ones that our community members have already checked out. ( Producers - read on…)
  • Choose your own ethics - we know every one has different priorities; make your own watch-list of "bad" stuff, and keep on top of what matters to your conscience, not ours.

We hope you find the features of this website useful; please contribute to the knowledge here to inform other consumers of the facts!

Many many thanks to Cai Gwinnutt for co-pursuing this mission; for hosting and general all round support. :-) Cheers buddy.

Design, styling, accessibility, JS wizardry

Darren Cadwallader put in a lot of time and effort to make Badlist and Goodlist look as beautiful as they do today. For which, I am incredibly grateful. :-)
